Lumley Warriors CC

HER Description

NEHL - A cricket ground was bedded in in the 1900s and was host to Lumley Warriors CC until circa 1920s. The first mention of the team is in the Sunderland Daily Echo of 18th July 1904, when the Lumley Warriors held their annual gala at the ground, implying the gala had pre-existed at least a few years. Bowls took place as well as skipping and Quoits.

The cricket ground is visible on the 1920 Ordnance Survey map with a small pavilion on its southern half.
