HER Description

The Black Bull on Green Batt previously featured a quoits ground and was used well into the 20th century. A match is noted in the Morpeth Herald on 10/09/1904 for £5 a side between John Smith and William Appleby, both of Alnwick.

The Black Bull had been here since at least the 1840s with the building dating earlier. The site was rebuilt in the 1990s and the pub ceased to exist around the 1970s. The yard itself was situated in the rear, enclosed from the main street and only accessible by the public house itself. The yard has been developed on.
